Peptide Storage Guidelines

Purchasing your peptides is only half of the battle.  It’s really unlikely that you’ll be making use of your peptides right after you receive them and open the packaging.  Storing your peptides appropriately will ensure shelf life remains as advertised and help prevent unwanted contamination that could lead to financial and research data losses.

We’ve decided to release a list of key guidelines everybody should follow, most especially customers who shop from us at gurupeptides.com.  We’ve broken up the list in to two major categories: Lyophilized Peptides and Peptides in Solution.

Lyophilized Peptides Storage Guidelines

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides are more hardy and stable than peptides stored in solutions.  When good practices are followed, your lyophilized peptides can keep good for a few years. Being made into powder or granular form allows for a lengthier shelf life.  Lyophilized peptides don’t deal with the same level of contamination risk related to bacteria that peptides stored in solution face. Note – Some of the rules are still going to apply to both categories of peptides.

  • Lyophilized peptides need to be stored at extremely cold temperatures.  Try to aim for -4 or -5 degrees Fahrenheit. (-20 degrees Celsius)
  • Make sure your peptides are stored in a dimly lit area, out of intense or bright light.
  • Prevent unnecessary stacking when you are packing away your peptide containers.  Even slightly damaged packaging can greatly reduce the shelf life of your product.
  • Do not mix and match your peptides.  Keep every like separate from every different type.
  • Adequately predetermine what you will need for each particular project and thoroughly label everything accordingly.

Peptides in Solution Storage Guidelines

These guys are definitely not going to last as long as the freeze-dried peptides.  Good practices are only going to guarantee a maximum shelf life of a few months, depending on what peptide you’re looking to store.  The results might vary slightly. Note: Some rules might apply to both types of peptides that you wish to store.

  • Take extra precaution to keep the peptides out of light.  Try to store them in a dark place to prevent unwanted bacteria growth and contamination.
  • You can freeze your product if you need to but it’s better to keep in a refrigerator setting and use it within a few days or weeks of unpackaging.
  • Use sterile buffers to help ward of unwanted bacteria growth and potential contamination.
  • Ensure you disinfect your storage area before and after use.
  • Do not, under any circumstances, stack product.  The slightest imperfection in packaging can ruin your product entirely.
  • Thoroughly label your peptides and don’t store any two dissimilar products together.
  • Never freeze and thaw, then freeze again.

The idea is to maximize the efficacy of your peptides without unintentionally contaminating your product before you’ve even had a chance to use it.  Once you’re ready to use a frozen product, let it thaw to room temperature for hours before you commence utilization. Never open a vial to air for longer than needed and always remember to keep out children, pets, and people who aren’t familiar with the products.
